Fred Vant Slot, ISA AM

Fred brings a unique understanding of fine art and contemporary furniture design with more than two decades of collecting and work experience. With a passion for detail and research, he can look at personal or corporate property through the eyes of a seasoned collector. Fred appraises 19th and 20th century American and European paintings, works on paper, and sculpture, as well as American and European furniture. He has experience working with Hudson River School, Western, Regionalist and Modernist art, with an emphasis on Texas and Southwest art. His knowledge of furniture design ranges from Bauhaus to contemporary design.

Fred holds degrees in Business Administration and Political Science from Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He has had a long career in the furniture industry, including twenty years with Herman Miller, Inc. (now MillerKnoll). As a long-time member of the Texas Art Collectors Association (TACO), he has served in several capacities: as a board member and as editor and contributing columnist to the monthly TACO Newsletter. He also co-curated and edited the TACO 25th Anniversary Collectors Catalogue, published in 2022. A member of Center for the Advancement and Study of Early Texas Art (CASETA), he has assisted in the CASETA Annual Symposium held each year in April. Fred is also a member of the Association of Historians of American Art (AHAA).

As an Accredited Member of the International Society of Appraisers (ISA), his appraisals conform to the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practice (USPAP) and to the Ethical Standards and Report Writing Standards of the ISA. He is a member of the North Texas Chapter of ISA.

Fred lives in Dallas, Texas with his wife and two daughters.
